GSK Sideline RSV Community Conversations at the McCormick YMCA
Earlier this year, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago and GSK partnered to host the health education event Sideline RSV: Community Conversations with health advocate and basketball legend, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, at the McCormick YMCA.
Sideline RSV: Community Conversations brought essential discussions about respiratory syncytial virus infection (RSV) to “center court,” empowering older adults to gain insight on preventing RSV and living a healthy lifestyle.
McCormick YMCA Executive Director, Angel La Luz, and YMCA of Metro Chicago President & CEO, Dorri C. McWhorter, welcomed guests and opened the event with a few remarks. Afterwards, we heard from Johnson, Dr. Candice Robinson, and an RSV patient advocate, who led the conversation about RSV and its risks, preventative measures, and spreading awareness.
Special thanks to Johnson for helping bring awareness to RSV and promoting the health and wellbeing of Chicagoland — and for taking the time to take pictures with Y community members!
At the YMCA of Metro Chicago, we are committed to the holistic wellbeing of all people in our communities.
