3 ways to give to the Y and invest in brighter tomorrows

One child, one family, and one community at a time, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago invests in a healthier, more equitable Chicagoland.

Through academic readiness, character development, violence prevention, and fitness and healthy living, the Y works tirelessly to ensure that people of all backgrounds and circumstances have the tools they need to thrive.

And we can’t do this work alone: Thanks to contributions big and small, we’re able to continue offering crucial programs and services to our entire Y family, regardless of their ability to pay.

As fall sets in, we wanted to share three ways YOU can invest in brighter tomorrows by supporting the Y:

  1. Vote for the YMCA of Metro Chicago with your Target Circle account! Until September 30 (just one week left!), you’ll be able to support the Y every time you shop at your local Target. With each shopping trip, you’ll earn votes, which you’ll be able to allocate to local nonprofits like the Y online or on your Target app. When you vote, you help determine how Target’s donation will be divided up. The more votes the Y receives, the greater our percentage of this donation pool will be.
  2. Donate to the YMCA After School Program Scholarship Fund. This school year, many students are returning to the classroom for the first time since March 2020. The Y’s after-school child care offerings help youth regain a sense of normalcy while supporting their academic development in a safe, welcoming environment. Help us ensure that all families have access to this crucial resource and make a gift today! A contribution of $250 can provide two weeks of after-school care for one child.
  3. Invest in what can be at our Annual Recognition Dinner presented by BMO Harris Bank on Thursday, October 21. At the virtual event, our Association will celebrate three distinguished honorees and the investments they’ve made to transform Chicagoland’s tomorrows, as well as reflect on our continued work and evolving vision for serving our diverse and dynamic Y family.
