The Fall 606Arts Project is Off to a Great Start!
Our Youth Safety and Violence Prevention (YSVP) program, 606Arts, has begun its fall program and the youth are hard at work creating new masterpieces.
606Arts offers youth an opportunity to express themselves via art within a trauma informed environment. "This program really brings out the creative side of our youth," Senior Outreach Specialist Johnny Vergara says.
The 16-week program weaves a focus on developing transferable skills through viewing and analyzing artwork, with arts skill building and principles of art therapy. At the end of the program, there will be an art exhibit at the YMCA of Metro Chicago's Crown Center.
In May 2019 there was a well-attended exhibit of the spring 606Arts program at Revolution workshop. Artists were onsite to explain their work.
