Remembering and Honoring Alan Fry
All of us at the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago are saddened to learn about the passing of Naperville community leader and philanthropist Alan Fry, for whom the Fry Family Y is a namesake.
While Alan had a remarkable career in land development, he was quick to say that his “greatest accomplishment was his flourishing family,” which extends to his friends, neighbors, and colleagues in his beloved Naperville community. Raised in Naperville and a graduate of Naperville High School, Alan was deeply committed to his community and hometown organizations, from the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation to the YMCA.
As a result of his many contributions to the Naperville community, the Y proudly named the Fry Family YMCA in Alan’s honor many years ago — a legacy that remains today.
“Alan’s passing is a great loss for the Naperville community,” said Erika Wood, Executive Director of the Fry Family YMCA. “His spirit and generosity are at the heart of his monumental legacy, and his support for the local Y undoubtedly demonstrates his passion to make Naperville a city for the dreamers, the architects, the engineers, and those committed to building stronger communities. Today and every day, we remember and honor Alan Fry.”
