Free Financial Literacy Workshop Ongoing at Fry Family YMCA
Fry Family YMCA is excited to kick off the New Year with our new partnership with Cents Ability Inc. by hosting Cents Ability's FREE 8-week financial literacy workshop starting January 8 - February 26th, 2022.
This past Saturday, the free Cents Ability, Inc. financial literacy workshop covered how to choose a bank account, common banking fees to avoid, and methods of saving. Next week’s module is “Credit Cards & Credit Scores” and will cover the basics of credit and how to pick the right credit card, the cost of credit and the risks and benefits of using credit, and the importance of your FICO score. 8-Week workshop
Cents Ability is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating and empowering students to achieve their goals through the prudent and informed management of their financial resources. Cents Ability partners with nonprofit organizations to teach eight modules that cover the basics of personal finance. Their volunteer educators are professionals in many fields, largely from the finance sector, that go out and teach students during school days, on evenings, and on weekends. Topics range from goal setting to credit, stocks, and future financial planning. Covered concepts include the 50/30/20 rule for budgeting, how to create a budget, the dos and don’ts of investing and the stock market, and learning how to ask questions from prospective employers about benefits and 401k options.
