Five Days of Action Campaign Raises Awareness to Help Prevent Child Sexual Abuse

As part of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago’s commitment to protecting the children in our communities and beyond, we’re participating in the Five Days of Action — a week-long campaign to increase awareness of child sexual abuse and to empower and equip everyone to prevent it.
 
The “Know. See. Respond.” campaign is back for 2023, along with resources from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, U.S. Center for SafeSport, and Praesidium.
 
Know: Knowing about child sexual abuse can help us better understand what to look for and how to keep it from happening in the first place. For example, did you know that 1 in 10 children in the U.S will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday? 

See: When we know the signs of abuse, we can intervene on behalf of children.  

Respond: If you suspect abuse, be ready to respond by knowing when and how to report.
