YMCA Of Metro Chicago Expands Youth Safety and Violence Prevention Program
The YMCA of Metro Chicago's Youth Safety and Violence Prevention program recently received a $1M grant from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority to expand its services. Now, YSVP will serve two additional communities in Chicago, growing from eight neighborhoods to 10. These include Austin, East Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, Logan Square, Lower West Side, South Chicago, South Lawndale, and West Garfield Park neighborhoods The new communities are Woodlawn and South Shore.
Additionally, the grant will allow YSVP to partner with Rush University Medical Center to provide mental health care to YSVP's youth and their families, staff, and post 9-11 military veteran volunteers.
