McCormick YMCA Welcomes New Executive Director
We’re excited to announce that Daniel Rubio is the McCormick YMCA’s new Executive Director.
Daniel Rubio has been a part of the YMCA family for 10 years. After serving as the Health, Wellness and Sports Director at the Leaning Tower YMCA and later as a Greater Joliet Area YMCA Executive Director for three years, Danny is returning to the YMCA of Metro Chicago as McCormick YMCA’s new Executive Director.
“I am honored to be serving as executive director in a community I once lived in. I am excited to serve alongside a cause-driven team of staff, neighbors, community partners, and volunteers. Together, we will continue to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the McCormick YMCA.”
While at the Greater Joliet Area YMCA, he increased membership and program participation by creating an inclusive and welcoming culture for all. He provided leadership over two Joliet centers where he implemented best practices which brought equity between the two branches.
Danny has served on several national initiatives. He chaired the membership committee for the Hispanic Latino Leadership network for the YMCA of the USA and served on the 2012 Emerging Multicultural Leadership Experience (EMLE) Planning Committee. He also served as the Community Outreach Chair for the Chicago Alumni Chapter of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University. Danny currently lives with his wife, Colleen, daughters, Lily and Addison, and dog, Nori, in the south suburbs. He is ecstatic about returning to Chicago and for the opportunity to serve the vibrant community he once belonged to.
